Pokemon!

Entei Diablo Vash says: "*$%#$@^!" Er... I think he means hello...

Introduction!

So you want to be a Pokemon, eh?

Well, you've come to the right place (if you answered yes! If you answered no go away :P!)
Being a Pokemon is one of the defining features of Pokemon RP Reborn, and
it comes with a whole list of interesting features!
As a Pokemon you:

Selecting a Pokemon

There are many different types of Pokemon to choose, as well as several choices for each type.
It is important to select a Pokemon whose strengths match your preferred strategy, and not just to
pick randomly (although feel free to play as your favourite Pokemon!)
Also keep in mind that the Pokemon type that you choose will affect whether you can cross
certain types of terrain (eg water).

Legendary Pokemon

When you start a new game, there is a random chance that you will end up
with the option of being a shiny or legendary Pokemon. If you do happen to become
one, count yourself lucky! If not remember that legendary and shiny Pokemon wouldn't be cool
if EVERYONE was one! So don't take it too hard, and certainly don't remake your char
just to get Legendary! After all, there are other cool things for Pokemon as well!

A quick note on Pokemon stats

While making this game I have come to the conclusion that not all Pokemon were created equally.
Many Pokemon have very weak stats to begin with, and may prove more difficult to level with
consequently. So I recommend you visit the Pokemon stats page before
you select a Pokemon if you are really going to raise a strong battler (as opposed to mainly RP).

How to level up

Articuno Articuno says: "Other Pokemon are players too! So don't run around attacking them without asking!"

In order to level up, you must gain exp. And in order to gain exp, you need to fight.
At the moment, the only things to fight are other Pokemon, who are players too.
This means you have to fight other players! But don't worry, there are rules in place to protect
your RP experience. This includes things like random attacking. It is NOT ON. None of the
GMs support people running up and attacking someone for no reason.
You can attack other Pokemon if:

When you successfully pull off an attack, you will gain exp. If you have a trainer you
will gain additional exp. When your exp reaches your level of needed exp, you will
gain a level. Every now and then you may also learn a new attack.

Combat in the wild

Unless you REALLY like being inside a Pokeball, chances are you'll need
to battle in the wild fairly often. Therefore, the first thing you need to know is
how the wild pokemon battle system works.

In the wild, it is possible for multiple Pokemon to be fighting each other at once. It's
just as possible that you will end up in a 3 vs 3 or 2 vs 1 as it is that you will be in a 1 vs 1.
To make it easier to pick who you want to attack, PRPR has a targetting system.
To target a person (or Pokemon), double click them. A red outline will appear around your target.
To untarget, simply double click away from them. Also, if you have no target and somebody
attacks you, you will automatically target them, making it easier to fight back.

To initiate an attack, select it from the attacks available in your "Battle" tab.
In your stats tab, it'll show you how much hp you have, and also how much pp each of your attacks have.
PP is an important thing to keep your eye on, as running out of pp means that you cannot
use that attack until you rest! (To learn about resting see the Healing and Berries section!)"
There is a time limit between attacks, and this is determined by your speed stat.
Don't be surprised if it takes you up to 5 seconds between attacks at level 5!
If a Pokemon faints it will automatically return to the Pokemon sanctuary.

Trainer battles

A brand new addition to PRPR is the trainer battles. Trainer battles take place in
arenas and are turn based. If you have a trainer, or one runs into you while you are
wild, prepare for battle! The first difference to wild battles that you will note is that
suddenly you can't move! Don't worry, it's part of the turn-based process.

First, the trainer and the wild Pokemon select their options. (If you are the wild Pokemon that means
you'll get to choose to attack or run.) Then, once that's done, the trained Pokemon can choose to obey
or disobey the commands given. After that, both Pokemon may move for up to 5 seconds. This part is important!
If you have a close range attack (like tackle) selected, you need to be within 1 square of your opponent
to successfully hit them! Likewise, if you have a long range attack you may want to stay out of your opponent's
reach! Also keep an eye on the terrain, certain types of terrain will modify certain attack types' power
and defenses etc.

Trainer battles also have more available moves than wild Pokemon battles. Some attacks that you learn will not>
be useable, until you enter a trainer battle. This mainly involves things such as weather changing moves.

Healing and Berries

It is not unlikely that you will require healing often. Not to mention protection from pesky
trainers and aggressive Pokemon. Well then head for the Pokemon sanctuary! When you start a new char,
you will appear in the sanctuary. Within here you cannot be attacked or caught, and can click "Rest" in
the commands menu to rest and heal hp and pp. You need to stay still until you get "Resting complete!" to
alert you that you are fully healed.

Status effects, however, must be healed by a berry. There are several varieties of berries, most of which
will recover a particular status effect. There are a few berries that recover hp instead, and even one
that revives you from K.O! Also keep an eye out for the Incrediberry, which heals everything (except pp).

Captivity vs Freedom

Not all Pokemon like being wild, and not all Pokemon like having a trainer.
For you it may simply be a matter of opinion, or you may be basing your choice off of
tactics and strategy. Whatever the reason, here are some defining points of both.
